While conducting an interview with the Vicki Gardner ( Executive director of the local chamber of commerce ), the whole crew was brutally gunned down. Since the show was live, the gunman was identified easily.
It was just like any other day out there as we can see from the fallen camera of Adam Ward and the murderer was also shooting the video by himself too. Just after the shooting, the twitter and Facebook account of the murderer was filled with the recording he had in his pursuit to gun down the reporter and her cameraman.
His account was continuously flooded by tweets stating some past traumatizing events and the fact that the murderer was accused of being gay and was bullied in his office.
During the live interview with the Vicki Gardner, a gunman sneaked from the behind and pointed the gun towards the news reporter Alison Parker. The moment Alison parker noticed the gun, the murderer started firing at her.
Alison Parker was shot in the head and chest with multiple bullets. The cameraman Adam ward was later shot straight in the head and according to the report from the hospital, it read that Alison Parker died from the fatal injuries to her head and her chest meanwhile the Adam ward got injuries in his head and torso which resulted in immediate death.
Vicki Gardner was also shot in the back but she managed to survive as after the first shot she fell down on the ground and played dead and the fact that the murderer had already accomplished the goals saved her life.
Because of the camera of the fallen Adam ward, the footage was recorded and was sent to higher authorities to reveal the matter. It turned out that the murderer was the Vester Lee Flanagan II, also known as Bryce Williams, a former reporter at WDBJ. He has fired 2 years ago from this event where he was working as a journalist. It’s the same workplace as the who had been forced to leave the station two years prior.
Running from the murder site, the murderer Vester Lee Flanagan was chased by the police. From further investigations, it turned out that Bryce Williams was running away in a rented car while being chased by the police. Seeing that he has no way to escape, the murderer shot himself in the head and died.
Further investigations were carried out and revealed a suicide note which the shooter had written and was delivered to the CBC news authorities, it was 23 pages long and contained the harsh experiences.
When being asked from the previous employers and colleagues, it was revealed that the shooter had a very loose temperament and as his former boss said: “ He was always after a reason to easily get offended “. His colleagues also described him as someone not in a good mental state.
His emails when reviewed revealed an older email about “ Get yourself medically checked “ from his former employer.
