The animated science fiction sitcom revolves around the adventures of mad scientist Rick Sanchez accompanied by his grandson Morty. He lives with his daughter Beth Smith and her family. Her family comprises of her husband, Jerry Smith, her daughter, Summer Smith and her son, Morty Smith. Their adventure takes them to different dimensions in the universe while they also navigate through their domestic life. The series started in December 2013 and has a total number of 31 episodes aired. It has a total of three seasons, but an additional seventy episodes will be released starting from November 2019.
The characters of the show are Rick Sanchez. He is the eccentric mad scientist who also happens to be an alcoholic. He doesn’t believe in societal conventions like marriage, love or even school. He is always on one adventure or the other to different dimensions and galaxies of the Multiverse with his 144 year old grandson, Morty.
Morty Smith is a good boy, who although is easily distressed, has a kind heart and always wants to do the right thing. He is the perfect counter to Rick Sanchez who is totally unscrupulous in nature. Morty is the moral compass that forces Rick to remember he is first a human being and as such treat others as such.
Then there is Summer Smith, Rick’s granddaughter and Morty’s older sister. The 17 year old is your typica, stereotypical teenager. She is concerned or better still, consumed by validation from her peers and this is her primary focus. Despite this obsession, she sometimes accompanies her crazy grandfather and little brother on their adventures.
Next up is Beth Smith. She runs the household and stands as the glue between her eccentric mad scientist father and her husband. Although she isn’t happy in her marriage, she manages to keep the home front together. She is level headed and very assertive. The last character on this show is Jerry Smith. He is son-in-law to Rick Sanchez, father to Morty and Summer and husband to Beth. He is an insecure person who doesn’t know how to take charge so instead complains to his wife about her father.
All through the animated series we see Rick and Morty travel through different universes and dimension where they meet similar versions of themselves. Although the extent of resemblance stops at features. As to personalities, it varies between the different dimensions they find themselves. Rick can be heard in earlier episodes of the series referring to himself as ‘Rick Sanchez of the Earth Dimension’.
Staring from the first season. The series started in December 2013, with a total of eleven episodes shown and it was well received. The pilot of the series was viewed by 1.1million viewers on its air date. The first episode sees Rick wasted and takes his grandson out for a ride in his flying car while rambling on about plans to wipe out the whole of earth’s life forms with a neutrino bomb he built. Rick passes out, the bomb self-activates but doesn’t do what Rick thought it would. A space adventure is undergone by Rick and Morty to collect ‘Mega Trees’ from another planet, which Morty has to hide inside his rectum to pass through intergalactic forces.
He is detected for carrying something inside him but they both escape from been caught. The seeds have a positive side effect inside Morty by making him super intelligent even though he has missed a semester of classes. The downside of the seeds is pain which sends Morty writhing on the floor as the side effects wear off. The season ends with the whole house watching the movie ’Titanic’, a house party where the house ends up in another dimension, Jerry almost raped by a deranged Titanic fan but is saved by Beth. In all the first season was a great watch. it was entertaining, great, might twist your head around a bit with a perfect blend of humour and strangeness with none over shadowing the other.
The next season of Rick and Morty is rated as the best season so far. Will the upcoming fourth season beat it? That remains to be seen. The second season begins with the episode titled ‘Total Rickall’. It was a continuation of the last episode of season one. The time travel which occurred in the last episode of the first season ripped holes in the time dimension. The season goes on to explore various angles through these holes. Overall, this season is the best and favourite because we see some serious emotional growth both in Morty and Rick. Both characters are shown to have evolved. We also see more involvement of Summer into the team of Rick and Morty adventures. In all the season was a better follow-up to the first season and surpasses the pilot season with its biting humour and twisting sci-fi storytelling.
Rick and Morty season 3 had a high bar to surpass with the end of the second season. Unfortunately, the third season doesn’t meet the high standards set with the previous season. The right words is, the third season sucks. It was a disappointment to say the truth. This abysmal third season does not inspire confidence in the fourth season.
With that said, it is clear that the second season of Rick and Morty is the best so far from the series. This particular season was entertaining, interesting and the perfect follow-up to the previous season plus surpassing it. Each episode in this season brought something new and different for viewers. It was a rambunctiously entertaining season with sci-fi, hilariously funny story lines. It was also a bit deranged but in a very brilliant way. There are a lot of things to learn from the show and not all of them are good(haha). In all, the second season of Rick and Morty is undoubtedly the best the series has put out and this is what fans of the show hold on to for the awaited fourth season.
What is the Best Antenna for free TV?
Television has come a long way and so has antennas. Gone are the days when our televisions had ‘rabbit ears; shaped antennas on top of them and we had to open them up wider or close them up to get better reception. With the increase in technology also comes the ability to get free channels with your antenna. They have the capacity to pick up 1080p HD broadcast. Now, if any antenna could pick up free channels then their would be no need for cable companies and the different plans they have to offer. Unfortunately, cable companies are here to stay as they have better packages when it comes to channels than using an antenna to receive over-the-air channels. These packages however, come at a cost to you which sometimes might be expensive.
Despite this some good antenna will still enable you watch some free channels which show dramas, sitcoms, comedy shows and even carry important sports matches like the NFL, NBA finals, the Stanley Cup amongst others. As great as this sounds, there is still the challenge of finding the right kind of antenna for your home. There are different options to choose from like indoor antennas or outdoor antennas. For indoor you could use one that lies in the highest point of your house, the attic and outdoor could be by the side of your building or on your roof. So, what you need is the best antenna or best hd antenna you can buy.
Some important factors affect the way your antenna might function in your home like the distance of your house to the broadcast towers, the position of the antenna, obstructions around your home or antenna, this is not to say that the antenna would not perform its functions but there might be some disruptions which could be as a result of any of the factors. Kindly ignore false advertising of antennas which offer a 120 mile range coverage as this is not true. The best antennas out there offer at most 80 mile range coverage and not more at least for now.
